                  DONATE now!

Our mission:  to find a cure by supporting young scientists to deliver breakthrough cancer research.

Dear Cure Cancer Australia Supporter,

Thank you for your support and inspiration. In 2010, Cure Cancer Australia is targeting a record $1.4 million towards the fight against cancer. 16 of Australia's most promising young researchers have been awarded a one year funding grant to investigate a potential cure in the areas of; lung, pancreatic, gastrointestinal, colorectal and breast cancers, melanoma, tumour growth and suppression, cancer genetics, antibody-based cancer therapy and more effective prevention for skin cancers.  I am just thrilled that the best young cancer researchers in Australia will receive crucial start-up funding support to continue their work in 2010.

Discoveries are being made every day that assist with early diagnosis and better treatments being developed for many types of cancer.   Cancer doesn't discriminate and now affects a staggering 1 in 2 Australians. Your support leads to vital research aimed at finding a cure for this devastating disease.

Unite with us for a cure and donate today!

QUIT FOR A CAUSE!

Cure Cancer Australia now provides you with the chance to Quit for a Cause, where you can decide to do something positive and accomplish a goal. It is the season for New year's resolutions but it shouldnt be the ONLY time that you can Quit something. You can encourage your friends, work colleagues and loved ones to support you while you give up something that is currently important to you, or a nasty habit that you would like to break, while raising money for a brilliant Cancer research organisation at the same time!

Its  so easy!  Decide what you would like to Quit, log onto the website at http://quitforacause.gofundraise.com.au/-quitforacause select Quit for a Cause and make your Cause, Cure Cancer Australia.

Wouldn't it be wonderful if together we could fund a young researcher for a whole year! Thats right, $90,000 will fund one brilliant young researcher for a whole years worth of essential Cancer research that will ultimately contribute to our goal to Cure Cancer in Australia.

Happy Quitting!

BOBBIN HEAD CRUISING CLUB - SAIL FOR CANCER DAY 13TH FEBRUARY

The Bobbin Head Cruising Club (BHCC) is a social Cruising Club of around 50 boat owning members, the majority of whom moor their boats at Bobbin Head.

BHCC have been raising money for cure cancer for many years now through their annual Sail for Cancer day.  Their fundraising contribution for Cure Cancer Australia has enabled them to name a 2010 Research Grant in honour of one of their founding members "Graham Moyle" who lost his battle with cancer in 2008.

On Saturday 13th February, the BHCC will join forces with the Royal Motor Yacht Club for the 11th Sail for Cancer Day departing from Bobbin Head's Empire Marina.

Tickets are only $40 which includes a rare opportunity to spend a few hours aboard a luxury boat while cruising along some of Sydney's most beautiful waters followed by a catered get together back at the Marina.  If you are interested in being involved in the day please contact Carol Anderson on 0417 679 175 at the Bobbin Head Cruising Club on or email events@cure.org.au. CALL FOR APPLICATIONS:  NATIONAL GRANT FUNDING for 2011

Cure Cancer Australia is collaborating with Cancer Australia to provide National Project Grant funding for 2011 via the Priority-driven Collaborative Cancer Research Scheme (PdCCRS).

Project grants of one year duration up to $90,000 (GST-exclusive) are offered to support post-doctoral researchers with less than seven years post-doctoral experience or less than seven years post MBBS qualification undertaking a one year research project into malignant disease.

Cure Cancer Australia Foundation wishes to fund innovative, high-achieving, early-career researchers, and will be assessing the Track Record and Publications of the Chief Investigator submitted as part of the NHMRC application process to determine priority for these grants. This funding category cannot be used to provide a salary or other support for a young investigator as part of a larger PdCCRS project grant application.

Support from Cure Cancer Australia is available for Priority-driven Young Investigator Project Grants. These project grants are intended to support research projects of young investigators and must demonstrate:

Priority focus - Grant applications must relate specifically to the research priority area/s specified by Cure Cancer Australia Foundation

Track record - Applicants must list publications, their role in the publications, and their research experience

Career development - Applicants are required to describe their career development objectives for the next five years

Relevance to cancer control - Applicants must describe how their proposed research is relevant to cancer control
