Dr Caroline Ford  Targeting a new epigenetic therapy for ovarian cancer Lowy Cancer Research Centre at the University of New South Wales, Ovarian Cancer " Ultimately I’d like to see my work lead to a new treatment for ovarian cancer or a diagnostic test. A test would be the holy grail, because there’s currently no clear way to detect the disease at an early stage."

Dr Joshua McCarroll Targeting drug resistant genes in brain cancer Children’s Cancer Institute of Australia (CCIA), Brain Cancer "Brain cancer is a terrible disease with few treatment options. I hope to be able to use nanotechnology to deliver genetic material as well as chemotherapy drugs directly to brain cancer cells. This in turn, will make the cancer cells more sensitive to the chemotherapy as well as reduce their toxic side effects on normal cells."
