“What attracts me to Cure Cancer is their focus on research. That is really important to me. Having watched both my mother and grandmother battle unsuccessfully with this devastating disease, I am immensely fortunate to have experienced first-hand the difference continued research makes, in both early detection and treatment. I also love that Cure Cancer provides funding to young researchers who think outside the mainstream, researchers who are willing (and thanks to Cure Cancer, able) to step outside the box. I have this sense of, imagine if that one in a million idea turned out to be the missing link in the search for a cure for cancer...”

Why become a Cure Cancer Research Ambassador?
Cancer is an insidious and devastating disease. As a Cure Cancer Research Ambassador, your contribution to achieving research success is just as essential as the work our researchers are doing. They need your help.
Generous donors like you who give on a regular basis are making a special long-term investment. You will be making a lasting and meaningful commitment to cancer research in Australia.Just $30 from your bank account each month will help shine new hope onto a future free from cancer!
Over the course of a year, your monthly contribution will fund one day of groundbreaking research. Hours that will be dedicated to developing better treatments and finding ways to prevent, diagnose and cure cancer. Which of course means a better outcome for Australia’s many cancer patients and their loved ones.
Your support will ensure we can continue to fund the best young and innovative cancer scientists and clinicians when they need it most. You’ll be helping us to plan research grants more effectively, ensuring we have the resources available to fund more grants and support more researchers than we do now.
All of this brings us closer to a cure for cancer.
Your ongoing support will help Australia’s brightest young researchers in their quest to cure cancer.
As a Research Ambassador, you’ll be supporting researchers like:
 |
Dr Caroline Ford
Targeting a new epigenetic therapy for ovarian cancer
Lowy Cancer Research Centre at the University of New South Wales, Ovarian Cancer
" Ultimately I’d like to see my work lead to a new treatment for ovarian cancer or a diagnostic test. A test would be the holy grail, because there’s currently no clear way to detect the disease at an early stage."

Dr Joshua McCarroll
Targeting drug resistant genes in brain cancer
Children’s Cancer Institute of Australia (CCIA), Brain Cancer
"Brain cancer is a terrible disease with few treatment options. I hope to be able to use nanotechnology to deliver genetic material as well as chemotherapy drugs directly to brain cancer cells. This in turn, will make the cancer cells more sensitive to the chemotherapy as well as reduce their toxic side effects on normal cells."

There are many more inspiring researchers like Caroline and Joshua who need your long term commitment to find a cure for cancer.
